why the strange resolution? why not 1920x1200? or even better: 2560x1600.

1080p is anything but strange :) in fact its the standard for HD.

1920x1080 is a 16:9 HD ratio which is the most common. 1920x1200 is actually 16:10 ratio and is less commonly found on computer monitors than 1920x1080, and also 1920x1080 is found on almost all HDTVs sold today, so it kinda sucks for x1200 PC users :P
